Easter is approaching, and according to tradition, you can celebrate it with delicious Danish smørrebrød accompanied by schnapps and beer or whatever suits your needs. But where should you eat your Easter lunch in Copenhagen? It can be difficult to get an overview of which restaurants serve Danish smørrebrød, which is part of a traditional Easter lunch, and that's why we've made it easier. We have made a list, in a random order, of 10 great restaurants in Copenhagen where you can enjoy your Easter lunch. Hurry up to book. Easter is a popular time and the tables are booked quickly. Kronborg is real Danish "hygge" with classic smørrebrød dishes served on Danish porcelain. This year's Easter lunch menu costs DKK 449 per person and is served to the whole table in 3 courses and shared family style. It consists of 7 dishes and cheese with compote. Seating for 3 hours - hurry to book your Easter table.

At Frederikshave they have a small but careful selection of smørrebrød for lunch. You can choose à la carte or go with their "Little bit of everything" which consists of 6 small dishes - herring, salmon, prawns followed by chicken salad, a warm meat element and 2 Danish cheeses - all for DKK 375. We can recommend to enjoy your Easter lunch in their cosy courtyard. They are closed on Sundays.

The love for Bornholm and the good ingredients from here are Koefoed's focal point in their servings. They don't have an Easter menu but we can recommend to choose one of the two set menus; Koefoed's Bornholmerplatte for DKK 395 or their Bornholm smørrebrøds menu which is shared by the whole table for DKK 450 per person. DKK 130 extra for optional cheeses or dessert for both menus. They are closed Sunday and Monday.

For lunch, they serve modern smørrebrød, at Norrlyst, which is always based on the ingredients that are in season and it is largely inspired by the nature around us. They don't have an Easter option, but they have a smaller and well-selected range of smørrebrød, which you can choose à la carte. Michelin recommended since 2021.

The four small steps that lead down to Restaurant Schønnemann may be modest in distance, but they take you back to a bygone era, where cordial hospitality and quality food made from scratch still apply. At Schønnemann, it's all about enjoying smørrebrød of the highest quality and well-poured beer, as they have done for almost 150 years. Hearty hospitality and quality food made from scratch is the starting point. They have a very wide selection of smørrebrød - how many pieces do you have to choose? According to them:

Schønnemann restaurant

At Restaurant Palægade, they embrace the traditions and memories of the classic Danish smørrebrød, while also welcoming innovative and creative ideas. Choose from their large à la carte menu or go with the menu for DKK 495. Here, you get curry herring with egg salad and watercress, deep-fried shearling fillet from Kystfiskerne with stirred remoulade and lemon, fried Parisian beef steak from Grambogård with classic garnish and finally a dessert from the cart.

Selma is a modern Scandinavian restaurant with selected Scandinavian dishes as well as a wide selection of Danish smørrebrød. The dishes are beautifully presented and the taste is of high quality. In addition, a carefully selected beer menu from Mikkeller. Sandwiches cost from DKK 125 to DKK 190 per piece.

At Lola, you can enjoy classic Danish smørrebrød and well-known warm lunch dishes in slightly Lola-interpreted versions with great respect for the Danish heritage - it's Danish smørrebrød with a twist. At Lola, vadouvan enriches the herring, the smoked eel benefits from a touch of unagi and the prawns get a boost from the refreshing citrus aroma of kaffir lime salt. They are closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Restaurant Carl Nielsen is a small, cozy Copenhagen restaurant that exudes history. A Michelin recommended lunch restaurant with classic Danish smørrebrød served in beautiful dishes. They work every day with homemade quality and love for the craft and, not least, new thinking of the best from the good Danish lunch table.

At Orangeriet, they welcome you in the beautiful old garden hall all year round. They are located in the middle of the city, surrounded by green trees and birdsong in the middle of the King's Garden. The view of the park is fantastic in all kinds of weather, and when the sun is shining the terrace is naturally open. They have a large menu for lunch consisting of classic Danish smørrebrød dishes. They are closed on Sundays.
